CtrlS Datacenters has announced a Rs 500 crore investment to establish a greenfield data center in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, as part of its plan to expand digital infrastructure across India.
The new facility will be situated on a five-acre plot at Badwai IT Park, which has been allocated by the state government. The project is expected to create around 200 jobs as it develops in phases.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav virtually inaugurated the groundbreaking ceremony during the Tech Growth Conclave 2025, which took place in Indore on Sunday. The data center is in line with the state’s technology investment goals, including its IT, ITeS & ESDM Investment Promotion Policy 2023 and the Global Capability Centers Policy 2025.
As part of the state’s economic vision, Madhya Pradesh aims to establish over 50 global technology centers and reach a USD 2 trillion economy by 2047.
Sridhar Pinnapureddy, Chairman and Managing Director of CtrlS Datacenters, stated, “Our significant investment in this facility underscores our commitment to driving the digital transformation of India’s future.” He highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s strategic location, business-friendly policies, and emerging talent pool in technology as key reasons for selecting the state for the new data center.
The AI-ready facility will feature advanced cooling and security infrastructure, making it a crucial addition to the region’s growing tech landscape. Upon reaching full capacity, it is expected to contribute approximately Rs 7.5 crore annually in both state goods and services tax (SGST) and central goods and services tax (CGST).
CtrlS currently operates 250 megawatts (MW) of combined data center capacity across major Indian cities, including Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Noida, and Kolkata.
The company also runs edge data centers in tier-2 cities such as Patna and Lucknow and has plans for further expansion in locations like GIFT City, Bhubaneswar, and Guwahati.
