DC visits injured workers, orders probe at Shivpriya Ispat blast

Monday, 30 June 2025 | PNS | Bokaro

Two workers were seriously injured in a blast at Shivpriya Ispat Udyog in the Balidih area on Sunday morning. Both are currently undergoing treatment at Bokaro General Hospital (BGH). Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha visited the hospital, met the injured workers, and reviewed their medical condition with hospital authorities. He assured that the district administration would ensure the best possible treatment and support for the victims.

Calling it a serious case of industrial negligence, the DC directed SDM Chas, Pranjal Dhanda, to submit a detailed investigation report within 72 hours. He emphasized that all industrial units must adhere strictly to national and state-level safety norms and secure proper safety certification before resuming operations.

DC Jha also instructed the Shivpriya Ispat management to provide monthly compensation to the families of the injured workers until they fully recover, calling it a matter of rightful entitlement. Expressing strong displeasure over the absence of the factory inspector at the time of the incident, he ordered suspension of the official’s salary until further notice.

Officials from BIADA, Labour Department, and the Chas administration were also present during the site inspection and hospital visit.
