The Delhi BJP Yuva Morcha organised a ‘Namo Yuva Run’ at Delhi University’s Sports Complex on Sunday. The marathon, attended by over 5,000 students, marked the beginning of a major anti-drug and pro-sports campaign for Delhi’s youth.
The event was part of the ‘Seva Pakhwada,’ a series of initiatives to celebrate the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 5-kilometer run was flagged off by MP Manoj Tiwari, Delhi BJP Co-Incharge Dr. Alka Gurjar, and Padma Shri athlete Sudha Singh. Union Minister of State Rajbhushan Chaudhary was also present.
Officials stated that Padma Shri Sudha Singh will spearhead the anti-drug initiative and promote sports among the city’s youth. The marathon aimed to raise awareness against drug addiction and held simultaneously at 75 locations across the country.
Speaking at the event, Manoj Tiwari highlighted the significance of celebrating the Prime Minister’s birthday through service-oriented activities. “PM Modi wants his birthday to be celebrated through service and new initiatives. This ‘Seva Pakhwada’ is a matter of pride for us,” he said. Tiwari administered an oath to the participants, urging them to stay drug-free and serve the nation.
“We, the youth of India, are both its present and future. We pledge to stay away from drugs, keep our bodies and minds safe, and firmly stand against the menace of addiction,” he said. Union Minister of State Rajbhushan Chaudhary emphasised the marathon’s objective to promote a “drug-free living.” “The goal is to help youth contribute meaningfully to building a developed India. A healthy and drug-free India is our mission,” he said.
Dr. Alka Gurjar congratulated the participants for joining the effort and contributing to national development.
Delhi BJP Yuva Morcha President Sagar Tyagi said the wing would take the message of a “drug-free Delhi to every household.”
The event saw participation from various BJP officials, including General Secretary (Organization) Pawan Rana, Event Convenor Vishnu Mittal, Yuva Morcha in-charges Abhishek Tandon and Sumit Seth, and Morcha General Secretaries Arun Daral, Puneet Sharma, and Gaurav Jaurasia.
Vishnu Mittal confirmed that Sudha Singh will be a key figure in promoting sports and leading the anti-drug campaign among Delhi’s young population. The event showcased significant enthusiasm and participation from the youth.
