The Delhi Police marked the 11th International Day of Yoga with a series of coordinated events across its units on Saturday, highlighting the force’s commitment to physical and mental well-being, officials said.
At the Delhi Police Headquarters on Jai Singh Road, a large-scale yoga session was organised by the Welfare Unit under the supervision of Special Commissioner of Police (Welfare), Atul Katiyar. Commissioner of Police, Sanjay Arora, also participated in the event as chief guest, inspiring 432 officers and personnel who participated.
The Delhi Police Academy also celebrated the day across its four campuses. At the Dwarka campus, Joint Director Asif Mohammad Ali led a yoga session with 600 participants. At the Wazirabad campus, Deputy Director Mohammad Ali joined 900 trainees and trainers. At the Jharoda Kalan campus, Assistant Directors Anil Kumar and Richpal took part in a session with around 1,000 participants. The Abhanpura Commando Campus also held a yoga session with active staff involvement. These sessions reflected the academy’s focus on wellness, guided by the leadership of Special CP (Training), Sanjay Kumar.
Additionally, several district units of Delhi Police have also organised Yoga sessions in their zones which were led by their respective DCPs.
In Rohini district, 570 police personnel, including women staff, participated in International Yoga Day events held across all sub-divisions. Officers emphasised the benefits of yoga in managing stress, improving resilience, and supporting daily police duties. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rohini, Rajeev Ranjan, led the initiative.
In North West Delhi, a yoga session was held at the DCP Complex, Ashok Vihar, with enthusiastic participation from officers and staff. The event promoted the inclusion of yoga into daily routine for a balanced life.
In the East District, a yoga session was organised at National Victor Public School, IP Extension, by the Community Policing Cell under the leadership of DCP Abhishek Dhania. Police personnel from various police stations came together to support the theme “One Earth, One Health.â€
In South West District, officers and staff celebrated the day at the DCP Office Complex, Vasant Vihar, through a shared session of yoga, embracing health, harmony, and mindfulness.
