Delhi records 60.54 per cent voter turnout in Assembly polls, drop from previous elections

The national capital recorded 60.54 percent voters turnout in the assembly polls which was held in a single phase on (February 5) Wednesday, a drop of in the voting percentage. The national capital witnessed a drop in the voting pattern since 2015. The turnout in the 2020 Delhi Assembly election stood at 62.59 per cent, 4.65 per cent lower than 67.47 per cent in 2015 and 58.69 percent in 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

According to the Voter Turnout App, the highest turnout was recorded in North East district, which saw 66.25 per cent polling, while South East district recorded the lowest turnout at 56.40 per cent.   The voter turnout was recorded 59.12 per cent in Central Delhi, 62.49 per cent in East, 57.23 per cent in New Delhi, 59.61 per cent in North, 66.25 percent in North East, 60.71 percent in North West, 63.99 per cent in Shahdara, 58.20 per cent in South, 61.33 per cent in South West, and 60.98 per cent in West.

Among constituencies, North East Delhi's Mustafabad had the highest turnout at 69.01 per cent while Mehrauli in South West Delhi recorded the lowest turnout at 53.02 per cent.

According to the voter turn out data,  the turnout was recorded 56.43 percent in Adarsh Nagar, 59.47 percent in Ambedkar Nagar, 65.86 percent in Babarpur, 56.93 prcent in Badarpur, 63.03 percent in Badli, 63.90 percent in Ballimaran, 59.46 percent in Bawana, 61.13 percent in Bijwasan, 59.48 percent in Burari, 55.96 percent in Chandni Chowk,62.79 percent in Chhatarpur, 59.36 percent in Delhi Cantt, 59.58 percent in Deoli, 61.96 percent in Dwarka, 61.01 percent in Gandhi Nagar,61.03 percent in Ghonda, 68.29 percent in Gokalpuri, 54.92 percent in Greater Kailash, 60.74 percent in Hari Nagar, 62.65 percent in Janakpuri,57.49 percent in Jangpura, 54.59 percent in Kalkaji, 64.40 percent in Karawal Nagar, 54.55 percent in Karol Bagh, 54.15 percent in Kasturba Nagar,  62.39 percent in Kirari, 62.97 percent in Kondli,64.04 percent in Krishna Nagar, 60.87 percent in Laxmi Nagar, 63.28 percent in Madipur and 54.07 percent in Malviya Nagar.

The high-stakes Assembly elections in the Capital saw a shrill campaign, with the AAP, BJP and Congress announcing a slew of poll sops - including for women and the youth - in their bid to outdo each other.  The 2025 Delhi election is seen as a straight fight between ex-Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's AAP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP.   In the triangular contest between the AAP, the BJP, and the Congress, the ruling party aims for a third consecutive term, while the saffron party hopes to make a return to power after 25 years, and the grand old party strives to make a comeback.
