DU to streamline administrative procedures for international students to boost attractiveness

Emphasising the importance of internationalisation in higher education, Delhi University (DU) Vice Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh highlighted the University’s efforts to streamline administrative procedures for international students and to strengthen Delhi University’s global reputation for academic excellence.

He also emphasised the importance of internationalisation in higher education and the commitment of University of Delhi in supporting its growing foreign student community.

The Vice Chancellor made these assertions on Wednesday during an interactive awareness programme on ‘New Rules and Procedures for Foreign Students, organised by Foreign Students’ Registry, University of Delhi.

He hoped that this event will be beneficial for all stakeholders attending this programme.

The event aimed to apprise the university’s stakeholders of the latest updates and regulatory changes concerning the admission, registration, and overall administration of international students.

The event was attended by over 100 College Principals, Deans, Heads of Departments (HoDs), University Hostel Provosts, Wardens, Resident Tutors, Admission Coordinators, Faculty Members and Administrative Staff associated with admission of foreign students at University of Delhi.  Deepak Yadav, IPS, Deputy Director/ Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO), Delhi was the Guest of Honour.

Yadav began the speech by reiterating that as Bharat goes towards the aim of being a Viksit Bharat we will see more influx of foreign students in Indian universities.

He then delivered a detailed presentation on the new rules and procedures for foreign students, explaining the registration formalities, visa regulations, hostel formalities and compliance requirements.

His prime area of focus was on the recently enacted Immigration Foreigners Act, 2025, Immigration  Foreigners Rules, 2025 implemented from September one. He also described the various categories of Student Visas and also discussed the Legal Provisions of the Act.

His talk was followed by an interactive question and answer session where the audience asked several questions and  sought clarifications of doubts related to foreign admission process.

The awareness program concluded succesfully and underscored the continued dedication of University of Delhi in fostering an inclusive, transparent, and student-friendly environment for its international community.
