The Ramgarh Block Auditorium in Dumka became a focal point of financial awareness on Monday as an extensive camp was organized under the Financial Inclusion Saturation Campaign. The event, graced by Anjani Kumar Thakur, Director, Department of Financial Services (DFS), Government of India, attracted a large number of villagers eager to learn about key government-backed financial security initiatives.
The camp was designed to demystify various social security schemes including the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), and the Atal Pension Yojana (APY). Village representatives and beneficiaries were walked through the benefits and application processes of these insurance and pension schemes tailored for the economically weaker sections. Additionally, critical information on the re-KYC process was shared. Re-KYC, an essential banking compliance, helps prevent fraud and ensures uninterrupted access to government schemes. Cyber fraud awareness was a notable component of the camp.
Villagers were apprised of common cyber threats and practical tips to safeguard their financial information. Such efforts are vital in today’s digital age where increased connectivity also brings risks. DFS Director A.K. Thakur impressed upon the attendees the urgency of linking bank accounts to Aadhaar cards and mobile numbers, emphasizing that this linkage protects against money laundering and unauthorized transactions. The importance of beneficiary nomination in accounts was also stressed. To reinforce support, financial assistance cheques worth Rs 2 lakh each were handed to four deserving beneficiaries—Duldiya Tudu, Durga Hembram, Mundari Devi, and Mithun Kumar Rai—demonstrating government commitment to uplift disadvantaged sections.
