In response to a video was shared on social media showing the Block Office was closed until midday. As a result, the Deputy Commissioner has asked for an explanation from the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Bhawnathpur and has suspended salary payments for all officers and staff at the Block Office until further notice.

The video, which circulated on social media on 23 April 2025, indicated that no officers or employees were present at the Block Office in Bhawnathpur after midday. The doors to all officers' and employees' offices were also closed.

Initial observation of the viral video revealed that the offices of all officers and employees of the Block Office, Bhawnathpur, were closed. No employees were seen in the office. Although the time is unclear in the video, District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Jamuar, deeming this a breach of conduct for a government employee, instructed the Block Development Officer, Bhawnathpur, to obtain explanations from all absent officers and employees of the Block Office, Bhawnathpur.

Furthermore, they were instructed to provide their own explanation within 24 hours as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for such irresponsible working practices.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Treasury Officer to withhold salary payments for all officers and employees of the Block Office, Bhawnathpur, until further notice, due to this incident. He also instructed the block employees to arrive at the office punctually and ensure their biometric attendance is recorded. Block employees were also directed to address the concerns of complainants visiting the Block Office and resolve them as a priority.

Given the increasing heat in the Garhwa district, the Deputy Commissioner has directed all BDOs to repair all defective hand pumps and provide drinking water facilities in all government offices, including the Block Office and Panchayat Office. Instructions have also been issued to repair non-functional hand pumps and Jalminars.

Several hand pumps have been repaired, and drinking water services have been restored today.
