Govt to conduct VK Malhotra’s funeral with full honors

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta  has expressed deep condolences on the passing away of veteran BJP leader, former Chief Executive Councillor and first Delhi BJP president Professor Vijay Kumar Malhotra,(93).  In a statement, the Delhi government said the state government will conduct his funeral with full honors on Wednesday.

The BJP veteran, who was undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for the past few days, passed away on Tuesday around 6 am. His mortal remains will be kept at the BJP office on Pandit Pant Marg from 12 noon to 2 pm on October 1 for mourners to pay their last respects. The cremation will take place at the Lodhi Road crematorium. Several of the scheduled events of the Delhi government have been cancelled in view of the party leader’s demise.

The chief minister  expressed deep sorrow over his demise, calling it an immense and irreplaceable loss. She said that the state government would ensure that his last rites are conducted with full honours. Today, the Chief Minister visited his residence to pay her humble respects to the late Professor Malhotra and reiterated that his passing is an immense and irreplaceable loss. She further remarked that the late Vijay Kumar Malhotra, who also served as a Member of Parliament and a legislator in Delhi, was a frontline warrior of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and the BJP. He not only shaped Delhi’s politics but also set new standards of public service, earning respect as a true servant of the people. As the first President of Delhi BJP, he strengthened the party’s foundations and guided countless workers with his example of service, discipline, and dedication.

The chief minister said Professor Malhotra’s life exemplified patriotism, organisational skill, and simplicity. He was a guiding figure for party workers, and his selfless dedication will continue to inspire everyone. The Chief Minister added that his passing leaves a deep void not just for the BJP family, but also in the social and political life of Delhi.

She prayed for eternal peace for his soul and strength for his grieving family and party workers to bear this profound loss.
