Illegal LPG refilling unit unearthed at Pushpa Nagar

Wednesday, 18 June 2025 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

An illegal gas refilling operation hidden inside a Pushpa Nagar home was exposed on Tuesday, with 38 cylinders and machinery worth Rs 1.25 lakh seized.

Domestic LPG was being funnelled into commercial cylinders inside the residence of Ramesh Sharma. What looked like an ordinary house concealed a stockpile of highly flammable material.

The Food Department had kept the investigation under wraps for weeks. When the timing was right, officers entered the premises and uncovered the operation.

The raid was conducted on the orders of Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh. District Supply Controller Chandrabhan Singh Jadon led the team, comprising Sandeep Bhargava, Pushparaj Patil, Safdar Khan, and Mayank Dwivedi.

Officials recovered 16 commercial and 22 domestic cylinders, two weighing machines, a 1.5 HP transfer pump, plastic pipes, and 100 cylinder caps—used to conceal the illegal transfer.
