HP CM Reviews Plans for Grand New Complex in Shimla
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting to review plans for a new multi-purpose complex in Shimla’s Sabzi Mandi area. The project, spanning 14 bighas, will include offices, a shopping complex, hotel, residential flats, and parking facilities. Constructed in two phases, the first phase will cost Rs 200 crore. Sukhu emphasized aesthetic and functional value, directing officials to start work soon. Shimla Mayor Surender Chauhan hailed the project as a landmark initiative to boost tourism and urban infrastructure.
HP CM Lays Foundation Stone for Ellerslie Building Phase-II
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday laid the foundation stone for Phase-II of Shimla’s historic Ellerslie Building. The Rs 19.72 crore project, set for completion by April 2026, will feature a six-storied structure with parking and office spaces. He said that the new building will decongest the Secretariat, improve public accessibility, and reduce traffic on the circular road. The initiative aims to enhance administrative efficiency and urban infrastructure in the state capital.
Sukhu Releases Poetry Book ‘Buransh’
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu released poetess Anupama Sharma’s poetry collection, ‘Buransh: The Fragrance of Words’. The 56-page book contains 39 poems exploring human emotions, nature, and self-reflection. Sukhu praised the work for its depth and emotional resonance. Proceeds from the Rs 150 book will support the ‘Mukhyamantri Sukh Ashraya Yojana’. Anupama Sharma, a government lecturer, is also a biking and trekking enthusiast.
Punjab Disburses Rs 102.69-cr Under Ashirwad Scheme
Chandigarh: Punjab’s Social Justice Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Sunday announced that Rs 102.69 crore has been disbursed under the Ashirwad Scheme for 20,136 beneficiaries in 2024-25. The scheme provides Rs 51,000 for marriages of daughters from SC, OBC, and economically weak families (income below Rs 32,790). Benefits are transferred via DBT for transparency. Dr Baljit reiterated the government’s commitment to uplifting disadvantaged sections, ensuring inclusive growth under CM Bhagwant Mann’s leadership.
HP CM Listens to Public Grievances in Sirmaur village
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday addressed public grievances during his visit to Daro Deoria village in Sirmaur. He assured residents of sympathetic consideration for their demands. The CM was welcomed with traditional music and later visited former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Tirth Singh Thakur’s residence.
Cyclothon Against Drugs to Reach Rewari on Apr 8
Rewari: Haryana’s Cyclothon-2.0, under the slogan ‘Nasha Mukt Haryana’, will enter Rewari on April 8. The anti-drug campaign will honour sarpanches of drug-free villages. On Tuesday, thousands of people will welcome the cyclothon during its entry into Bhalkhi Majra in Rewari district. He said that in the campaign against drugs, with the participation of the administration as well as the general public, the cyclothon will be sent to the next district on Wednesday. UHBVN to hear power consumers' problems in Panchkula today
Chandigarh: The proceedings of Corporate Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum, Panchkula, of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam will be conducted by its chairman and members on Monday from 11 am to 4 pm at the office of Corporate Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF), Panchkula. During this, only the complaints of consumers of Panchkula district will be heard. Spokesperson said that similarly, the proceedings of CGRF will be conducted on April 8 (Tuesday) from 11.30 am at the office of the Superintending Engineer, Panchkula. More Bank related services should be made available in rural areas: Speaker
Karnal: Stating that more Bank related services should be made available in rural areas, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan on Sunday said that the banking sector plays an important role in the country's economy. The network of banks is quite widespread in cities as well as villages. Today, there is a bank in one out of every five to 10 villages and there is a need to expand this system further. More and more services should be made available in rural areas through banks so that they can get the benefits of government schemes, said Kalyan while speaking as the chief guest at the Karnal Zone Conference organized by the Bank Workers’ Organization in Karnal.
Five vehicles challaned, Rs 1.68L fine imposed for illegal mining in Y’nagar
Chandigarh: Yamunanagar District Administration and Mining Department on Sunday conducted checking of 2619 vehicles and five vehicles were challaned and a fine of around Rs 1.68 lakh was imposed, said the Government official spokesperson, as per the instructions of the Haryana Government, strict action is being taken against people doing illegal mining in the state. For this, monitoring is being done by forming teams at different levels. The administration is committed to stop illegal mining and transportation in the district. SDMs of the district, police department and mining department officials are carrying out checking of vehicles round the clock.
Development works worth over Rs 5-cr inaugurated in Barwala
Chandigarh: Haryana Public Works and Public Health Minister Ranbir Gangwa on Sunday inaugurated various development works built by Nagar Palika Barwala at a cost of Rs five crore in the Assembly constituency Barwala (Hisar). The Minister said that this development work will strengthen the infrastructure of the area and people will get better road facilities. Soon, construction work related to sewerage, drinking water and other basic facilities, including grand welcome gates on both sides of the city, will also start.

Chandigarh: Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said that Sanatan Dharma has a rich tradition of religious texts. “It is not easy for everyone to understand the teachings given in religious texts. In this context, our saints and mahatmas are our true guides,” he added. Khattar, addressing a programme as the chief guest on the second day of the three-day annual festival of Ashram Hari Mandir Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya located in Pataudi, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned making India a developed nation by the year 2047.
