Kaanchan Azad, OSD (Media), Delhi Election Commission on Tuesday was conferred with the State Award For Best Electoral Practices for his Outstanding Performance in Media Management during Delhi Legislative Assembly Election 2025 by Lt Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.
Azad was honored for his outstanding media outreach and awareness campaigns during the Delhi Legislative Assembly Election 2025. He played a crucial role in publishing 500 news articles aimed at educating and engaging Delhi’s citizens about the election process. Currently serving as the Officer on Special Duty and Spokesperson in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, Azad has been instrumental in executing impactful media campaigns to promote electoral literacy and participation. A seasoned media professional, Azad previously served as the Press Secretary to the then Chief Minister of Delhi and Press Secretary to Speaker, Delhi Vidhan Sabha. Before joining the government, he had an illustrious career as a crime reporter for two leading national newspapers, earning a reputation for his incisive journalism. The recognition at the Best Electoral Practices Awards underscores Azad’s dedication to public service and his significant contributions to strengthening democratic awareness among the youth.
