Amid allegations and counter allegations ahead of Delhi assembly elections; AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal warned on Tuesday alleged that the BJP, staring at defeat, is resorting to brazen 'Gundagardi' (hooliganism) and 'electoral fraud' in a last-ditch attempt to cling to power.
Kejriwal claimed that BJP workers-masquerading as Election Commission officials-are bribing the poor, marking their fingers with ink, and rendering them ineligible to vote. He asked people not to fall for this 'fraud' saying that if you let BJP ink your finger you will be signing a warrant for your own destruction. Do not sell your family's future for just Rs 3,000 or Rs 4,000.
The former Delhi CM said that his party has launched an all-out counteroffensive to thwart BJP's tactics, deploying hidden cameras, body cams, and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) to expose and stop the onslaught of illegalities. "BJP will use Delhi Police, BJP will use goons, and BJP will use fraud. But we will fight back. The people of Delhi will not let their democracy be hijacked," Kejriwal said urging citizens to stay vigilant and report any attempts at electoral malpractice.
Addressing the people of Delhi, Kejriwal said that the atmosphere across Delhi has made it clear that the AAP is heading toward a historic victory, while the BJP is on the verge of extinction. "Disregarding all laws and the Constitution, Delhi Police will resort to Gundagardi. They will use their goons to intimidate and threaten people-they will do everything possible."
He added, "But the most dangerous tactic they are employing is this: They will approach you, especially those from economically weaker sections, and offer you money. They will bring a box and claim to be from the Election Commission, asking you to cast your vote in it. They will give you a piece of paper, ask you to mark your vote, put ink on your finger, and offer Rs 3,000, Rs 4,000, or even Rs 5,000."
The AAP Convenor said, "The Election Commission does not conduct door-to-door voting. Do not fall for this deception-it is a fraud, a scam, and an act of cheating. What they are planning is major electoral fraud. They have already started implementing it. I have received calls from various slums reporting that people are going door to door, saying they will come on the night before the election and collect votes from people's homes. Voting never happens at home-under any circumstances. Do not fall into their trap. Their only intention is to put an ink mark on your finger so that you cannot go to the polling booth and vote. If they try to ink your finger, refuse outright."
Earlier in the morning, Kejriwal Monday attacked Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar once again as he urged him to leave his "greed" for the post. On the last day of campaigning ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls on February 5, Kejriwal also slammed the Election Commission, accusing it of favouring the BJP. "Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar ji is retiring at the end of this month. What position has he been offered that he is ready to mortgage the country? What is the post in return for which you can destroy the democracy of the country? Governor, President?" Kejriwal asked. "You have worked 45 years… Don't mortgage the country for your career… Don't end the country's democracy in greed of getting some post." This was not the first time Kejriwal questioned CEC Rajiv Kumar. On January 30, he said that the CEC was seeking a job after retirement and made the Election Commission a mess.
Kejriwal also addressed a Jansabha in Chhatarpur and led an roadshow in Kalkaji, galvanizing support for AAP's governance model.
