A special self-defense training session titled ‘Shringaar Bane Hatyaar’ was held at LNCT University’s auditorium, where international karate champion Supriya Jatav imparted essential self-defense techniques to students from local schools. The program was organized with the aim of empowering adolescents—especially girls—by equipping them with practical skills to ensure their safety and independence.
The event was initiated by the Gramya organization, which focuses on developing self-defense skills and promoting women’s empowerment. Supriya Jatav, who has represented India in numerous international karate competitions, taught students basic karate moves, ways to remain alert in challenging situations, and stressed the importance of self-confidence in personal safety.
In his welcome address, Deepak Saxena, Chief Administrative Officer of LNCT University and former Assistant Commandant, highlighted the increasing threats faced by women in today’s digital era and underscored the importance of safety awareness and precautionary measures.
The students enthusiastically participated in both theoretical discussions and practical exercises, learning hands-on self-defense techniques. Supriya Jatav emphasized, “In today’s world, self-defense is not optional—it is a necessary skill and a right for every student.â€
Parents and teachers lauded the initiative, describing it as timely and essential, and urged the university and other institutions to conduct such programs regularly to enhance safety awareness among children.
The session was graced by distinguished guests including Supriya Jatav, and Dr. Pankaj Shukla, Director of Gramya and ASRA. The program was coordinated by Purva Sharma Trivedi. Also present were Dr. Ranjan Kumar, several women faculty members, and students of LNCT University.
Dr. Pankaj Shukla spoke about the societal importance of self-defense training for women and encouraged all women to actively acquire and practice these vital skills.
