A second year MBBS student of a private collge committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling at Drishti City in Kolar area of Bhopal, three hours before her death, she had met her parents and told them that she had got a day off and did not want to go home and would celebrate Holi in Bhopal.
Her body was found in the flat on Tuesday night. The body was handed over to the family after the postmortem on Wednesday afternoon. The police have registered a case and started the investigation.
SI Joginder Negi said that Rimjhim Srivastava (21), was from Ujjain. She was a second year MBBS student.
When she did not pick up the phone despite calling several times on Tuesday night, her friends reached the flat to check on her well being. They knocked on the door but got no response. When they broke the door and went inside, they found her hanging from the noose.
The friends immediately informed the police. The police reached the spot, recovered the body and sealed the spot. No suicide note has been found so far. Even the family or friends are unable to give any concrete reason for Rimjhim's suicide.
Her father Sanjay Srivastava said that Rimjhim was his only daughter. She was a topper in studies. Last year, she got third rank in the entire college in the first year. There was no pressure of studies on the daughter. She was living in Bhopal for one and a half years.
He said that he is a DCM in a pharma company and he came to Bhopal on Tuesday in connection with a meeting. Since we were staying in a hotel, my wife also came along so that I could meet my daughter.
“After the meeting, I called her to the hotel itself. She was absolutely normal during the conversation. I had asked my daughter to go to Ujjain on Holi, but she said that she has got only one day's leave, so she will not be able to go home and will celebrate Holi in Bhopal itself. We left for Ujjain at 7 pm. When we reached near Sonkachh, we got a call that the daughter has committed suicide,” he added..
Rimhim's uncle SP Srivastava said that three friends of Rimjhim were continuously calling her. When she did not pick up the phone, they reached her house and found out about the death there.
