In a significant move to enforce municipal regulations, the Shahdara South Zone of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sealed two illegal dairies and one unauthorised meat shop in the Mandawali area on Wednesday. The crackdown was carried out as part of a focused enforcement drive aimed at curbing unauthorised activities that violate civic norms.
Deputy Commissioner Badal Kumar, who oversaw the operation, stated that the action was taken in response to blatant violations of municipal rules and regulations.
“The sealing drive was undertaken to ensure strict compliance with the law. The presence of these illegal dairies contributes significantly to the growing menace of stray cattle in the locality,” he said.
As per the police, the issue of stray cattle has long been a concern in urban areas like Mandawali, not only affecting hygiene and safety but also causing disruption in traffic and daily life.
Illegal dairies operating without proper licenses are a major contributor to this issue, with cattle often left to roam the streets after milking hours. Notices have already been issued to other illegal dairies operating in the vicinity, warning them to comply with regulations or face similar action.
The unauthorised meat shop that was sealed also lacked the necessary permits and failed to meet health and sanitation standards, prompting immediate action from the civic body, said police.
This enforcement drive is part of a larger initiative by the MCD to bring various unregulated businesses into the legal fold and improve overall urban management.
Officials confirmed that more inspections are planned in the coming weeks across other parts of Shahdara to further tighten regulatory compliance.
