Meet Dr. Divij Sharma: The Man Changing How Overseas Doctors See Their Future, Because Medicine Needs Leaders, Not Just Doctors

When you first meet Dr. Divij Sharma, you won’t see a man chasing the limelight.
You’ll see someone calm, grounded, and quietly determined to make sure no doctor ever feels as lost as he once did.

A graduate of Manipal, Divij’s journey began like many others. It was filled with ambition but clouded by confusion. He didn’t have a roadmap. No senior telling him which exams to take. No clear plan on how to work abroad. Just a desire to grow and the courage to figure it all out on his own.

So that’s what he did.
Piece by piece, late night after late night, Divij cracked two of the world’s most complex medical licensing systems: the AMC exams for Australia and the MRCP exams for the UK. He went on to work in Internal Medicine and Neurology in Australia for over 18 months and also held a part-time research position. All of this while adapting to a completely new medical culture.

But instead of just building his own career, Divij made a rare choice.
He turned around.
And made it his mission to help others walk the same path with more clarity, more confidence, and a lot less confusion.

Today, Dr. Divij Sharma is a mentor to several international medical graduates. Doctors and students from India, Pakistan, China, the Philippines, and many already working abroad reach out to him. Not just for academic advice, but because they see in him someone who truly understands.

He remembers what it felt like to wait months for results. To have no idea how interviews work in another country. To feel like everyone else had it figured out except you.
And that’s why his guidance isn’t cold or mechanical. It’s human.

He mentors with honesty, not hype. His sessions are full of practical insights, preparation strategies, interview tips, and perhaps most importantly, a deep respect for every student’s unique path. He listens. He shares. He supports.
And through it all, he reminds them that they are not alone.

As a tutor for the AMC Clinical and MRCP exams with several coaching platforms, he’s training doctors to succeed not just in exams but in life beyond them.

Because Dr. Divij believes something most medical schools don’t teach.
Clinical brilliance alone is not enough.

He speaks passionately about three things every doctor must learn:

Communication – Not just case presentation, but how to counsel patients and break difficult news with compassion, without causing panic.
Selling – Not sales, but self-worth. How to speak confidently in interviews, present your journey clearly, and stand your ground.
Finance – The most neglected topic of all. Divij is a regular investor in the stock market and advocates for financial literacy among doctors. He believes in slow compounding, in building wealth wisely, and in creating a life where you’re not just earning, but growing.

“I see so many young doctors with fantastic potential and great focus, but they are overwhelmed. Because they’ve never been taught how to navigate the real world. I want to change that.”

What makes him even more unique is his mindset.
“When I’m stressed,” he shares, “I’ve realised it’s usually because I’m not doing anything. The moment I take the first step, even a small one, the fog lifts.”

He teaches that too. Action over anxiety.
He reminds his mentees that uncertainty isn’t a dead end. It’s just a signpost pointing you to learn more.

He also lives by a quote that defines much of his approach.
“Be greedy when others are fearful, and fearful when others are greedy.”
For him, that’s not just about investments. It’s about thinking differently. Being bold enough to ask tough questions. Brave enough to walk alone when the herd is going the other way.

And it’s this spirit, that mix of resilience, kindness, and quiet leadership, that makes Dr. Divij Sharma so rare.

If you ask him why he does all this, why he gives up weekends for mentorship calls, why he keeps holding open sessions for junior doctors across the world, his answer will be simple:

“Because I remember. I remember being in their shoes. And if I can help even one person feel less confused, that’s success to me.”

He’s not trying to go viral.
He’s trying to make a difference.

And in a time where so many doctors are burnt out, overwhelmed, and unsure of what comes next, Dr. Divij Sharma is that calm, steady voice reminding them there is a way forward. You don’t have to walk it alone.

That, in the truest sense, is leadership.
And that’s exactly what medicine needs now, more than ever.
