Minimum temperature to rise by 2-3 degree Celsius across State

With a rise in the minimum temperature levels, fair weather conditions have been prevailing across the State while the nighttime temperature is also being recorded in the normal or above normal range.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, Jharkhand will continue to witness dry weather for the next few days. The nighttime temperature is also expected to rise by two to three degrees in the next 2 to 3 days bringing respite from the chill. However, a drop in the minimum temperature level is expected from January 25 onwards.

“For the next few days, during the day, it is going to be sunny but due to the incoming winds, it might be slightly cold. It is also predicted that from January 25 onwards, the minimum temperature is likely to come down by a few degrees which will bring the chill back,” said Director MET Centre, Ranchi Abhishek Anand.

On January 22 and January 23, the eastern part of Jharkhand is expected to have dense fog in the early morning hours while the rest of the State will have light to moderate fog. The northern and central parts of the State may witness overcast skies on January 23 and January 24. However, there are no chances of any rain, the official further stated.

As per the bulletin released on Tuesday by the MET Centre, Ranchi, in the last 24 hours, the minimum temperature in Ranchi rose to 13.3 degree Celsius which is 3.5 degrees above normal while Daltonganj was observed at 11.4 degree Celsius which is 2.4 degrees above normal.

Jamshedpur was recorded at 11 degree Celsius whereas Bokaro was observed at 11.2 degree Celsius which is 1.2 degrees below normal and Chaibasa at 9.6 degree Celsius which is 2 degrees below normal.

The minimum temperature in Deoghar was recorded at 10.8 degree Celsius Hazaribagh at 13.7 degree Celsius and Saraikela at 10.6 degree Celsius. Gumla was the coldest at 7.1 degree Celsius.

According to the weathermen, the minimum temperature in rural areas is about two to three degrees lower as compared to that in urban areas. Due to the fluctuating temperature it is also advised to take special care of the elderly and children.

The bulletin further stated that on January 22 and January 23, the nighttime temperature in Ranchi and its surrounding areas will be around 14 degree Celsius. On January 24, it is expected to be 12 degree Celsius while on January 25 the minimum temperature in the State capital will be around 11 degree Celsius.
