Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu on Sunday slammed the AAP, urging them to fulfill their promises in Punjab before announcing new schemes for Delhi and claimed that the education in the national Capital is so poor that senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia has to send his children to Canada for studying.
Addressing a press conference, Bittu criticised AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for what he called "unfulfilled commitments" in Punjab, including the unimplemented promise of providing Rs 1,000 per month to women.
"Kejriwal talks about free schemes every day in Delhi, but what about Punjab? He promised to eradicate drugs in Punjab, but no substantial action has been taken. In fact, Punjab reported 144 deaths due to drug overdoses in 2023, the highest in the country," Bittu alleged.
He also raised concerns about the law and order situation in Punjab under AAP's governance, citing a 10 per cent rise in rape cases last year and the assassination of singer Sidhu Moose Wala after the state government downgraded his security. Bittu further targeted the AAP over the Delhi liquor excise policy, claiming it has contributed to a rise in alcoholism.
Additionally, Bittu said that special upgradation of Delhi's Purvanchal Dwar Anand Vihar Railway Station and Sarai Rohilla Railway Station will be done by the Railway Ministry and their premises will shine with facilities similar to an airport.
Calling Delhi government's education scheme a ‘super flop scheme’, Bittu claimed, “The two universities of Delhi government, which are running along with private colleges, are of such poor standard that even Manish Sisodia, the founder of Delhi Education Scheme, does not consider them worthy of his children studying and is getting his children educated in Canada.”
“While on one hand Kejriwal-Sisodia mislead the people of Delhi and the country by calling their schools and universities world class in election after election, on the other hand Ashok Mittal and Arvind Ojha etc. do not tire of encouraging their own education mafia,” he said.
He also alleged that the corruption of Kejriwal-Sisodia has increased to such an extent that first they openly send the wealthy private education moguls of Punjab to Rajya Sabha and then take money from them in the form of fake loans, be it Covid period or immediately after the liquor scam, they send Sisodia's son to Canada to study.
“Romesh Mittal, who gave loan to Sisodia for his son's education, is the brother of AAP MP and owner of a private university Ashok Mittal, while Guneet Arora is a relative of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Arora,” he asserted.
