A minor girl was strangled to death by her brother, and her father later beheaded her, all because she used to talk to a boy in Koderma district.
The incident came to light when the girl’s decapitated body was discovered on the banks of a river on February 12. Authorities revealed that the girl's family had reported her missing on February 5 in Brahmatoli village, under the jurisdiction of Markacho police station. Following the complaint, an FIR was registered, and police began their search.
During the investigation, officers uncovered a body buried in the sand along the Jamunia Ghat of the Panchkheri River. However, the girl’s family initially refused to identify it. Upon further questioning, inconsistencies in their statements emerged, leading them to eventually confess to the murder. They admitted to killing the girl, disposing of the body, and severing the head to hide evidence.
Based on information provided by the accused, police recovered a bicycle, a sack, and an axe used in the crime, along with hair from the deceased found in a septic tank where the body had initially been hidden.
During interrogation, the victim’s brother, Jyotish Kumar Pandey, admitted that he frequently reprimanded his sister for speaking with a boy. On February 2, after seeing them together again, he flew into a rage and strangled her to death. In an attempt to conceal the crime, he hid the body in a septic tank. However, fearing police discovery, the family exhumed the body on the night of February 11, transported it to the riverbank, where the father, Madan Pandey, beheaded the corpse and buried the remains separately.
The police have arrested the father, Madan Pandey (73), along with the victim's brothers, Nitish Pandey (36) and Jyotish Kumar Pandey (20). They have also seized the weapons and tools used in the crime, including the axe, sack, and bicycle.
