Participating in the 61st Conference of Secretaries of Legislative Bodies in India, held in Patna, Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Principal Secretary Awadhesh Pratap Singh highlighted the Assembly's technological advancements and innovations.
Singh emphasized that the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly has been a pioneer in adopting paperless procedures for receiving information, such as questions and assurances, online from members and departments. He credited the use of modern technology for the Assembly's continuous improvement in productivity.
In his address, Singh announced that under the guidance of the Speaker, the NeVA (National e-Vidhan Application) project would be implemented in the Assembly starting from the Monsoon Session this year. This initiative aims to transition the Assembly from a less-paper to a paperless system.
To facilitate this transition, training centers for members of the Assembly, Secretariat staff, and government officials are being established. The initiative is being implemented under a tripartite agreement between the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, and the state government.
Singh also stated that officers would visit the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to study the effective use of advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The conference, held on January 20-21, 2025, witnessed the participation of Secretaries-General of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, along with Principal Secretaries and Secretaries from various legislative bodies across India.
During the visit, Awadhesh Pratap Singh also paid a courtesy call on Bihar Governor Honorable Arif Mohammad Khan and Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Honorable Nand Kishore Yadav at the Raj Bhavan.
