The Nishatpura police have arrested a vehicle thief in possession of weapons and three stolen vehicles, recovering stolen goods worth approximately Rs 3 lakh.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Fazal alias Fajju, was caught with a sharp-edged weapon, a stolen Hero Dio scooter, an e-rickshaw, and a Splendor motorcycle. Police records reveal that Fajju has been booked in more than eight cases related to theft, kidnapping, and violations of the Arms Act across multiple police stations, including Nishatpura, Shahjehanabad, Tilajamalpura, and Jahangirabad.

According to officials, the accused had no permanent address and frequently changed his rented accommodation after committing crimes. More than five of his hideouts have been verified by the police.

On February 27, the police received intelligence about a suspicious youth roaming around Housing Board Colony on a motorcycle without a registration plate while carrying a sharp knife, allegedly planning a crime. Acting on this tip-off, the Nishatpura SHO dispatched a team to the location. The suspect was detained near Dussehra Maidan, Housing Board Colony.

Upon frisking, police recovered a sharp iron knife from the accused. During interrogation, he admitted to stealing the motorcycle without a registration plate. Further questioning led to his confession of stealing a total of three vehicles.

Subsequently, police seized a Hero Dio scooter, an e-rickshaw, and a Splendor motorcycle from his possession. Fajju has been booked under multiple cases related to the Arms Act and theft. He was produced in court following his arrest.

Police officials confirmed that the accused has a long history of criminal activities, with multiple cases registered against him at Nishatpura, Shahjehanabad, and Tilajamalpura police stations. Investigations are ongoing to determine his involvement in other crimes.
