NUSRL Ranchi celebrates 16th Foundation Day

The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, observed its 16th Foundation Day on 26th April 2025. The Chief Guest of the event was Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court cum Chancellor of NUSRL, Ranchi, Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao. Distinguished guests included Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Advocate General Rajeev Ranjan, and Ranchi DC Manjunath Bhajantri also graced the occasion.

Several judges of the Jharkhand High Court, prominent lawyers, and Vice -Chancellors from Central University of Jharkhand and Sarla Birla University were also present during the occasion.

NUSRL Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the journey, achievements, and future goals of the university. He emphasized the improvement in NIRF rankings and the university’s aim to be among the top 10 national law schools. He also acknowledged that regular guidance from Justice Rao, Justice Prasad, and Advocate General Shri Rajiv Ranjan has led institution to new heights.

Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan encouraged students to consider careers in District and Sessions Courts for holistic legal experience and praised the university’s leadership.

Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad reflected on the early days of the university, recognizing the challenges it overcame and lauding the dedication of the faculty and staff. He highlighted the positive impact of the university’s Legal Aid Cell in addressing social issues.

Chief Guest Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao, in his address, applauded the university’s contributions towards legal services and societal responsibilities. He stressed the importance of legal research and expert involvement in navigating today’s economic challenges. He mentioned that NUSRL students have made remarkable achievements in litigation, the judiciary, and the civil services.

On this occasion, a new 200 MW solar power plant was inaugurated by Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court increasing the university's total solar power capacity to 300 MW. He also inaugurated a new powerhouse to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply on campus.

Due to the demise of Pope Francis and the declared state mourning, all cultural events were cancelled, and the celebrations were held modestly.

Also during this prestigious event, an MoU was signed between NUSRL Ranchi and Central University of Jharkhand, by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Kshiti Bhushan Das (CUJ) and Prof. Dr. Ashok R. Patil (NUSRL) in attendance. 35 students and 13 teams were felicitated for their achievements at the national and international levels. Additionally, 15 students received merit and sports scholarships. Faculty and staff members who have served for over 10 years were also honoured.

Lastly, a vote of thanks was given by Assistant Registrar(I/c) Dr. Jisu Ketan Pattnaik and extended heartfelt gratitude to each and every one who contributed to making this event a success.
