Cooperation, Sports, and Youth Welfare Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang reviewed the preparations for the 42nd National Rowing Championship in a meeting with senior officials of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department on Friday. He instructed officials to ensure proper arrangements for the accommodation, food, security, and other essential facilities for players and coaches. Additionally, the championship will be broadcast live on LED screens at Boat Club and major intersections across the city, allowing sports enthusiasts to witness the thrilling competition. The meeting was attended by Sports and Youth Welfare Department Director Ravi Kumar Gupta, Joint Director B.L. Yadav, and other senior officials.
Sarang announced that the 42nd National Rowing Championship will be held from March 3 to 7 at the Madhya Pradesh State Water Sports Academy, Boat Club, situated on the Upper Lake in Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the event on March 3. The opening ceremony will feature special demonstrations of rowing, kayaking-canoeing, sailing, and slalom sports by the athletes of the Madhya Pradesh State Water Sports Academy, offering spectators a spectacular display of water sports.
The championship will witness participation from around 500 athletes representing 25 states, competing in a total of 14 rowing events. This national competition will provide an excellent platform for the country's top rowers to showcase their talent.
The 42nd National Rowing Championship will feature competitions in senior men’s, senior women’s, and para rowing categories, with all races covering a distance of 2000 meters.
In the Senior Men’s category, events will include Single Sculls (M1X), Double Sculls (M2X), Coxless Pairs (M2-), Coxless Fours (M4-), Lightweight Men’s Double Sculls (LM2X), Open Double Sculls (M2X - Civilian), Coxless Fours (M4- - Civilian), Quadruple Sculls (M4X), and Coxed Eights (M8+).
The Senior Women’s category will feature Single Sculls (W1X), Double Sculls (W2X), Coxless Pairs (W2-), Coxless Fours (W4-), Lightweight Women’s Double Sculls (LW2X), Quadruple Sculls (W4X), and Coxed Eights (W8+).
For Para Rowing, competitions will include Para Men’s Single Scull (PR3M1X) and Para Women’s Single Scull (PR3W1X).
With extensive preparations in place, the championship is set to be a grand sporting spectacle, attracting top rowing talent from across the country.
