The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) commenced its annual Class VIII, X, and XII board examinations from Tuesday with nearly 8.82 lakh students appearing across the State. To ensure smooth and fair conduct of the exams, a total of 2,579 examination centres have been set up, supported by a well-coordinated team of 2,579 superintendents and 3,269 deputy superintendents.
Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, while announcing the commencement of exams, extended his best wishes to all students and urged them to give their best effort. He encouraged students to study harder and make their parents and the state proud, emphasizing that hard work is the key to success.
The Class VIII and Class XII board exams begin from February 19, while the Class X exams are set to start in March. For Class VIII, 3,02,189 students are appearing for the exams; while 2,84,658 students will appear for Class X; and 9877 students for Matric (Open). A total of 2,72,105 Senior Secondary pupils will appear in the 12 Class board exam and 13,363 students are set to appear in the Senior Secondary open exam.
To ensure effective monitoring and quick response to any issues, PSEB has also established a control room at its head office with helpline numbers — 0172-5227136, 137, 138 — for real-time assistance.
Minister assured that strict measures have been put in place to prevent any malpractice and to ensure a transparent examination process. The deployment of over 6,000 exam officials, including superintendents and deputy superintendents, reflects the government's commitment to fair and disciplined exams.
Encouraging students, the Minister said: “This is a crucial step in your academic journey. Stay focused, study diligently, and give your best. Success comes with perseverance and dedication.â€
