Punjab Sets National Benchmark in Timely Online Service Delivery: Minister Arora

In a landmark push for transparent and citizen-centric governance, the Punjab Government has emerged as the top-performing state in delivering online public services within the stipulated time-frame, achieving an impressive 99.88 percent success rate in timely service delivery. Over 48.85 lakh citizens availed of these services between June 2024 and June 2025, with only 0.12 percent cases breaching deadlines.

The state Good Governance and Information Technology (GG&IT) Aman Arora, addressing a press conference in Chandigarh after a review meeting with all Deputy Commissioners, said that the State has set a national precedent. “Punjab is now the first state in India to achieve the lowest pendency in online service delivery. This reflects our commitment to eliminate delays, corruption, and red tape from governance,” he said.

Arora revealed that officials with zero pendency would be rewarded, while those found guilty of habitual delays or raising unwarranted objections would face strict action. All DCs have been directed to monitor the performance of departments closely.

To expand reach, the state plans to increase the number of Sewa Kendras and add more service counters. At present, Punjab delivers 438 essential services — ranging from revenue records to bus bookings — through these centres. Departments such as Revenue, Transport, and Local Bodies have been digitized, with services like e-Jamabandi and e-Registry now available online.

Additionally, 98 percent of frontline officials — including Patwaris, Sarpanches, MCs and Nambardars — have been onboarded for digital certificate verification, minimizing the need for citizens to physically visit government offices.

Highlighting Punjab’s performance, Arora said that Pathankot district topped the charts in timely service delivery, reflecting the state’s grassroots governance improvements. He also announced plans to revamp the connect.punjab.gov.in portal to enhance user experience, making the system more citizen-friendly and accessible.

Arora reaffirmed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s vision of good governance and congratulated the entire administrative machinery for making Punjab a digital governance model for the country.
