Residents across Jharkhand experienced a slight respite from the biting cold as minimum temperatures witnessed a rise today, consistent with the predictions of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre. Most districts across the state enjoyed fair and bright weather, providing much-needed relief after a prolonged spell of chilly conditions.
According to the IMD, Jamshedpur recorded a minimum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius, a marginal increase that contributed to improved outdoor conditions. Ranchi, the state capital, registered 13.3 degrees Celsius, while Daltonganj, one of the colder pockets in Jharkhand, recorded 11.4 degrees Celsius.
Other prominent cities in the state also showed a warming trend. Bokaro Steel City recorded a minimum temperature of 11.2 degrees Celsius, Hazaribagh saw a slightly higher 13.7 degrees Celsius, and Deoghar matched Jamshedpur at 11 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists have observed that the minimum temperature across several other parts of the state has been steadily rising. This upward trend is expected to continue over the next 72 hours, with forecasts indicating a further increase of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures.
“Weather conditions in Jharkhand are currently stable, with no significant synoptic systems influencing the state,” an official from the Ranchi Meteorological Centre stated. However, the IMD highlighted the presence of an induced cyclonic circulation over West Rajasthan and Pakistan at 1.5 kilometers above mean sea level. While this system persists, it is not expected to have any immediate impact on the weather in Jharkhand.
The fair and bright weather today was a welcome reprieve for residents who have endured weeks of chilly mornings and evenings. Farmers in rural areas, especially those dependent on stable weather for their crops, expressed relief at the slight warming trend. Urban centers like Ranchi and Jamshedpur also saw increased outdoor activity as people took advantage of the pleasant weather conditions.
Looking ahead, meteorologists suggest that residents can expect milder mornings and nights in the coming days. However, they have advised caution during early mornings and late evenings, as temperatures may still dip slightly during these times.
“With the mercury climbing gradually, Jharkhand seems poised to move towards more comfortable weather, marking the transition from peak winter conditions to milder days ahead,” said an official.
