Three cases have been reported in Garhwa district, related to a ticket-selling scam at railway stations. The scam was first discovered at Nagar Untari railway station, where ₹2.16 crore was allegedly stolen. The scam has since spread to Ramna railway station (₹1 lakh fraud) and Garhwa Town railway station (₹46 lakh fraud).
The scam involved railway employees allegedly keeping ticket revenue for themselves. They are accused of only depositing a small portion of the money into the bank. Private employees hired by the railway to transport the cash are also suspected of keeping the money.
The Garhwa Superintendent of Police (SP) confirmed that the railway's commercial department filed cases at three police stations. The scam was discovered when the railway noticed a drop in revenue. Cases have been registered at Garhwa Sadar police station, Ramna police station, and Nagar Untari police station.
Garhwa SP, Deepak Pandey, said the police are investigating the three cases. The total amount stolen is estimated to be ₹2.5 crore. The police are investigating the matter.
