State Govt unable to provide account of Rs 1300 Cr of Centre: BJP

BJP state spokesperson and former Godda MLA Amit Mandal addressing media persons at BJP office said that the Jharkhand government is not able to provide the account for ₹ 1300 crore spent from the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) since 2019.

He said that as per the recommendation of the 15th Commission, the state government will get Rs 2370 crores in the health sector, Rs 6585 crores to rural local bodies (panchayats), Rs 3367 crores to municipal bodies and Rs 3138 crores to the disaster management department by 2026. This will be available for 5 years. (90 Centre: 10 States).
Mandal said that the term of the 15th Finance (2021-2026) Commission is about to end and before the formation of the 16th Finance Commission, the Government of India has directed all the states to update their data on the NDMIS portal.

He said that the portal is not being updated due to non-submission of data by the departments. Mr. Mandal said that the Agriculture Department used the disaster fund for drought relief, but its account is still pending. ₹600 crores. The Health Department alone has an account of ₹700 crores. This also includes the amount sent to the districts during the Corona epidemic.

He said that in future, some major bodies related to disaster management, State Disaster Management Authority, District Disaster Management Authority will not be able to do their work. Due to lack of funds, water and climate change, geological disaster, industrial disaster, man-made disasters will be affected across the state.

He said that the government should tell where did the 700 crores of the Health Department and 600 crores of the Agriculture Department go - has the money been embezzled, has it fallen prey to corruption or is the account not being found?

Mandal said that the government should tell how much money the government has to fight the disaster and if a disaster-like situation arises in the future, how will the government fight it. BJP State Co-Media Incharge Ashok Badaik was present in the press conference.
