Students and faculty members from the management and economics streams in the state capital have expressed confidence that the Global Investors Summit will bring about meaningful changes in the industrial landscape of the city.
A commerce student and volunteer at the summit, Aryan, said, "This summit will help students shape their careers and build a network that can assist them in the future."
MBA student Sufian, also among the summit volunteers, said, "I will get a brief view of the world's top global leaders and administrators, which will help me shape my career. It will also help me understand how a business mind works, so that I, too, can become an investor."
Danish, a UPSC aspirant and management student, shared his enthusiasm about volunteering at the event, saying, "It will be a great opportunity for me to meet key people and learn about investment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh. It is a valuable platform to connect with leading figures in the corporate world."
Meanwhile, Assistant Professor at Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS), Aamir Mehboob, highlighted the summit’s significance. He said, "This event will motivate students to establish startups. Additionally, the IT sector, cybersecurity, advertising, and logistics supply chain management will also be promoted. There is a high possibility that Madhya Pradesh and Bhopal will emerge as new business hubs. This will lead to significant employment generation, as the state has numerous skilled colleges capable of transforming students into a competent workforce."
He further added, "Students will gain practical skills rather than just theoretical knowledge. For them, this summit will be an eye-opener, and those volunteering will have the opportunity to interact with world-leading entrepreneurs, business leaders, and top industry minds."
Commerce Professor Anitta Jomy Thomas believes that the summit will play a crucial role in boosting the state's economy and GDP. She remarked, "Talented individuals from our state, who often migrate to other states, will now have reasons to stay, making a significant difference. This summit aims to lead the nation towards sustainable development. Our government has introduced several liberal policies that make doing business easier."
She also emphasised the potential of the agriculture sector, saying, "If the government encourages students to consider farming as a career, it could open new doors. It is time for the government to channel funds appropriately to develop infrastructure. Before investing, investors assess a location's infrastructure, and we need to highlight our strengths."
"While the government's efforts are commendable, additional research is needed to identify the best areas for investment," she continued. "If this summit proves successful, its impact will be most significant on our capital, Bhopal, rather than just the state as a whole. People's per capita income will rise, leading to lifestyle improvements. Now is the right time to satisfy the needs of major business minds from India and abroad so that investments come in as quickly as possible. The biggest achievement of this summit will be job creation."
Economics expert Darshan Sabharwal stated, "If the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed during the summit are implemented effectively, our state will undoubtedly experience growth. We need more skilled workers, and the government's Skill India programme is steering youth in the right direction. If this summit proves successful, Madhya Pradesh will emerge as a leading state in the next five years, with greater opportunities in rural areas."
Meanwhile, finance expert Alpa Ghosh highlighted the benefits of investment for the stock market. She said, "With new investments, the stock market will flourish, and opportunities and expectations will be balanced. The industrial climate and infrastructure will improve, and rural areas will benefit significantly as they supply raw materials. Since the state itself is a partner in these investments, the risks involved will be considerably lower."
Hundreds of students from various city colleges and universities will be present as volunteers at the summit when it gets underway later this month. The students are scheduled for a special seven-day training programme before they are assigned responsibilities at the conclave.
