The Delhi Police have arrested three persons,  including a 13-year-old minor,  in connection with the stabbing death of a 19-year-old youth in north east Delhi’s Seelampur area on Tuesday night, police said on Thursday.

The murder, which is believed to have stemmed from a personal dispute between family members, took place around 10:30 PM in Bharat Tyre wali gali of Seelampur. The victim, identified as Zaheer Abbas, son of Dilsher Ali, worked in a factory stitching seat covers.

His father is employed in the same trade. According to the police, Zaheer was attacked by his relative Qasim, along with Qasim’s son Asif and a minor boy.

Zaheer was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital by his parents, but doctors declared him “brought dead” upon arrival.

After being informed about the incident at 10:39 PM, a police team from Seelampur police station immediately reached the spot. Crime and forensic teams were also called to examine the scene and gather evidence.

A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder, has been registered. During preliminary inquiries, police learnt that Zaheer had an ongoing dispute with his relative Qasim, a 47-year-old resident of Chauhan Bangar’s A Block. On Tuesday night, the argument escalated, leading to a fatal attack.

“Based on the clues collected from the spot and technical surveillance, all three accused were identified and apprehended within hours of the incident,” a senior police officer said. The arrested individuals include Qasim (47), father of one of the accused, Asif (20) son of Qasim and a 13-year-old boy.

All three were picked up from their residence in the Chauhan Bangar area early Wednesday morning. The police said the murder weapon has been recovered, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events.

The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem. The investigation is underway in the case, police said.
