La Biblioteca, a unique children’s library, has opened its doors in the city, offering a vibrant space where children can explore the magic of reading.
"We have designed this vibrant space along the lines of children's libraries in global cities, where young ones are introduced to reading in an open-access format," says Zaib Kamaal, the vision behind the enterprise.
The library provides a diverse collection of books, media, and resources that reflect the community’s richness, catering to children aged 4–12. With an emphasis on inclusivity, La Biblioteca offers stories from various cultures, languages, and perspectives, sparking curiosity and learning.
To support children's development, the library hosts a variety of engaging programmes, including storytimes, workshops, and summer reading initiatives. The space also offers help with the curriculum, alleviating the stress of homework for children and parents alike.
The knowledgeable and friendly staff are always on hand to guide children as they explore the library's resources. La Biblioteca aims to preserve knowledge, foster community engagement, and make learning enjoyable for all young visitors.
The inspiring establishment is located at the popular Winggs Club at Lalghati, which is known for offering a plethora of activities that span sports and culture.
Kamaal, who is currently working on her PhD thesis on children's libraries, says, "We chose the location to help young parents have a safe place to leave their children while they enjoy sports, dining, or other personal and social engagements."
Currently, La Biblioteca is open between 8 am and 12 pm, and then reopens for the evening between 3–9 pm.
