During a visit to Deendayal Rasoi Kendras in the state capital on Thursday, Uttar Pradesh officials praised the Rs 5 meal scheme and expressed interest in replicating it in their state.
A team from UP State Urban Livelihood Mission visited Rasoi centres at Shahjahani Park and Putlighar bus stand to study their operations and implementation.
They reviewed how the centres serve nutritious meals to the poor for Rs 5, with support from the state government and strict monitoring through a dedicated online portal.
Dr Kamal Kumar Singh, UP mission manager, took a token and personally ate lunch at the Putlighar centre, describing the food as clean, homely, and well-managed.
Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Tina Yadav, explained the process of food preparation, service, sanitation, and digital beneficiary registration to members of the delegation.
Singh highlighted the portal’s role in tracking meals and ensuring government subsidies reach operating agencies based on verified daily entries.
Calling the Rasoi model transparent and impactful, he lauded the state’s innovation and said similar centres could soon be seen in cities across Uttar Pradesh.
