Workshop on ‘Mission Karmayogi and iGOT’ held at MAPCOST

Wednesday, 18 June 2025 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

In light of current challenges facing governance such as economic growth, environmental sustainability, equality, and issues related to ethics, integrity, accountability, and public participation, there is an increasing need for a new generation of public servants. These individuals must not only possess updated knowledge but also demonstrate a strong commitment to citizen satisfaction. This view was expressed by Dr. Praveen Digharra, Senior Principal Scientist and Head of the Human Resource Division, while chairing a capacity-building workshop at MAPCOST.

Organized by the HRD Division of Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MAPCOST), the workshop focused on "Mission Karmayogi and iGOT" as part of capacity-building efforts for council officials and staff. Dr. Digharra emphasized that in order to meet the growing demands of modern governance, public servants must modernize their perspectives and continually improve their competencies.

In alignment with the vision of the Government of India’s Capacity Building Commission, Mission Karmayogi aims to transform public servants into professionals who are progressive, energetic, capable, transparent, tech-savvy, creative, innovative, and empathetic—thereby enabling them to effectively tackle future challenges.

Subject expert Anadi Mishra, Advisor to Mission Karmayogi and representative of the State Nodal Institute RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management, Bhopal, provided in-depth insights on the mission. He demonstrated how public servants can enhance their skills through online training via the iGOT portal. Participants were also given hands-on training on the portal.

Principal Scientist and HRD Division In-Charge Shailendra Singh Dabi highlighted the increasing role of technology in public service delivery, stressing that public servants must remain eager to learn continuously. He further stated that to contribute effectively to India’s vision of becoming a five-trillion-dollar economy, state governments must become active partners by expanding the current training framework to incorporate both functional and behavioral competencies relevant to various fields of work.

Dabi also delivered a comprehensive presentation covering various aspects of Mission Karmayogi, including the qualities of ideal public servants, the concept and limitations of capacity building, its objectives and strategies, departmental responsibilities, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, funding, and implementation strategies.

The workshop was designed to empower public servants at MAPCOST to become more professional, innovative, and responsive, ultimately leading to better service delivery and higher work quality. Participants actively engaged in discussions with experts and had several of their queries addressed. The session marked the successful completion of the first phase of Mission Karmayogi and iGOT training for MAPCOST officials and staff.
