Youth support our core values: BJP after poll victory

With the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) bagging three posts in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections on Friday, top BJP leaders celebrated the victory saying the win as a testament to the youth’s support for the party’s core values. Congratulating the poll winners, the Chief Minister Rekha Gupta urged them to fulfil their responsibilities towards the university. “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all young comrades on ABVP’s splendid victory in the DUSU election. This victory is not just of an organisation, but of every youth who considers patriotism, discipline, service, and struggle as the guiding path of their life,” the chief minister said at the ‘Vikshit Bharat Ke Rang, Kala Ke Sang’ event.

Reflecting on her own experience in student politics, she added, “I am proud that I, too, lived and learned these values as the president of the Delhi University Students’ Union. This result shows that the youth of Delhi remain steadfast on the path of knowledge, humility and unity, a path that ABVP established decades ago.” The ABVP bagged three posts in the high-stakes polls, including that of president, while the NSUI managed to secure one. The ABVP secured three of the four key posts—President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary, while the NSUI managed to win the Vice President’s position. This decisive outcome was immediately welcomed by CM Gupta, who congratulated the winners at a cultural event.

“This victory is not just of an organisation, but of every youth who considers patriotism, discipline, service, and struggle as the guiding path of their life,” she said. “The Delhi government has many initiatives it wishes to pursue in collaboration with the new DUSU team,” the chief minister added.Drawing on her own experience as a former DUSU president, the chief minister added that the results showed that “the youth of Delhi remain steadfast on the path of knowledge, humility and unity, a path that ABVP established decades ago.”

Her remarks highlighted the party’s intent to link the campus victory to a broader political narrative.Similarly, BJP President JP Nadda took to social media to congratulate the ABVP. In a post on X, he said the victory shows that the “message of ‘Nation First’ is embraced by today’s young generation, who will lead India towards a bright and strong future.” The Delhi BJP also celebrated the win as a victory of “nationalist ideology and spirit of service.”

Adding to the chorus of congratulations, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva called the victory a “testimony to the unshakable faith of the student community in its nationalist ideology, spirit of service, organisational strength and dynamic leadership.” Expressing his happiness over the win, Sachdeva said the triumph reflects the voice of young India, “full of energy, conviction and commitment to shaping a brighter future for the nation.”
