As part of the nationwide MNREGA Day celebrations, a social organization, Youth Unity for Voluntary Action (YUVA), in collaboration with local authorities, organized an awareness rally in several villages of Potka block, Jamshedpur.
The rally aimed to educate rural communities about the benefits and provisions of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA). Participants carried placards and banners with slogans such as "Har Ghar Ko Adhikar 100 Din Ka Rozgar" (Every household has the right to 100 days of employment).
YUVA, in partnership with the Azim Premji Foundation, has been working to empower gram sabhas in three panchayats of Potka block. The organization's efforts focus on creating awareness about MNREGA, promoting social audit, and ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of the scheme.
The rally was attended by a large number of villagers, who were informed about the key provisions of MNREGA, including the guarantee of 100 days of employment, minimum wage, and social security benefits.
"We aim to create awareness about MNREGA and ensure that rural communities are able to access their entitlements under the scheme," said Jaiprakash Sahoo, a project coordinator of YUVA.
