Craving Kachori? Find Its True Form

Some dishes don’t need reinvention. Kachori, the deep-fried delight with roots across India, has always been more than a snack. Crisp, flaky, filled with spiced surprises, it belongs to morning rituals, railway platforms, street corners and family feasts. And now, it is finding a fresh presence through The Kachori Story, Gurugram. The menu is a map of India’s culinary richness.

Born out of founder Jai Agarwal’s  and Yash Chandak's personal journey from the bylanes of Bikaner to the food business, the brand is a tribute to one of India’s most beloved street snacks. Kachori, often a hurried roadside bite, is finally being given a seat at the table it always deserved. Walk into any of their outlets and you’re greeted with a menu that reads like a culinary travelogue.  Jai and his team spent three years travelling across cities, sampling versions from home kitchens, street stalls and age-old sweet shops. From Kolkata’s iconic Club Kachori, served with runny aloo sabzi, to UP’s peas and pepper variant that brings winter to the plate, the diversity is unmatched. “Growing up, kachoris were a ritual,” Jai shares. “They were Sunday mornings, weddings, roadside pit stops. We wanted to recreate that without turning it into a cliché.” His words carry weight and you can taste them in every bite. There’s the Rajasthani Moong Dal Pyaaz Kachori, spiced with the punch of asafoetida. The Bengali Hinger Kachori brings mustard and memory together. The Green Peas and Cracked Pepper version adds a seasonal note. Then come the sweet ones, stuffed with jaggery, coconut and topped with a gentle pour of rabri.

The crust is golden, neither too thick nor too oily. Accompaniments include classic chutneys, potato gravies and drinks that complete the experience. The menu respects the old while speaking the language of the new. Whether served as a single snack or part of a combo, each kachori holds the flavour of the street without the chaos. These kachoris aren’t randomly assembled. They were chosen like characters in a story each with a role, a flavour, a memory. It’s about giving something familiar the attention it always deserved. Every kachori here has a backstory gathered one home, one region, one memory at a time. And that’s what makes The Kachori Story stay, long after the last bite.

A Word From the founder

The idea of building a full-fledged menu around kachoris came from a desire to celebrate and elevate a beloved regional snack, to give it a more diverse, contemporary and sometimes gourmet treatment. And no, we weren’t concerned about it being too niche because there are so many types of kachoris across India. We simply brought them all together on one platform.
