Two princes: PM rips into Opposition

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday stepped up his poll campaign in Bihar, charging the Opposition Congress-RJD combine in the State with insulting Chhathi Maiyya, having problems with the Ram temple at Ayodhya and protecting infiltrators for the politics of vote bank.

He also took a dig at the Congress-RJD alliance, claiming the Congress wants to damage the RJD’s prospects in the Bihar Assembly elections, and so, it has deployed the leaders who have denigrated the State. The PM also alleged that the Congress-RJD combine stood for five ‘Ks’ — kata (country-made weapons lawlessness), kroorta (cruelty), katuta (social resentment), kushasan (misgovernance) and corruption.

PM Modi made these remarks in back-to-back rallies in Muzaffarpur and Chhapra towns, a day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged that Modi had tried to enact a drama by planning to take a dip in the Yamuna on the occasion of Chhath Puja. PM Modi added, "We are seeing two crown princes at work. One belongs to the most corrupt family in the country. The other hails from the most corrupt family in Bihar. And both are out on bail."

The PM urged people of the State to repose their trust in the Narendra-Nitish combine. “It is my first tour of Bihar after Chhath Puja, which is now famous world over. The festival stands not just for devotion but also for equality, a reason why my Government is trying to get a UNESCO heritage tag for this festival,” he said.
