A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck open waters in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) east of Guadeloupe, a French Caribbean island, at a depth of six miles (10 kilometers), according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The tremor reverberated across the eastern Caribbean, felt from Antigua to St Vincent and the Grenadines. No immediate damage or injuries were reported. Shortly after, a second 6.0 magnitude quake hit the same region at a depth of 10 kilometers (six miles). The USGS confirmed no tsunami warnings were issued for either event. Authorities in the affected islands are monitoring the situation, urging residents to stay alert for potential aftershocks. The quakes highlight the region’s seismic vulnerability, though early reports suggest minimal impact.
