Police bust betting racket, arrest five including woman

In a joint action by Crime branch Bhopal and Kamla Nagar police, a betting racket was busted at Ambedkar Nagar operated by a couple on Friday and the police recovered Rs  1.38 lakh, one mobile phone and betting slips from their possession.

Police said that acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a house at Ambedkar Nagar and nabbed five persons including a woman red-handed placing and accepting bets.

The nabbed persons were identified as Kishore Bhat, Yogesh Pathre and Omprakash Bamnere while the woman and her husband were identified as Yashoda Bagde and Siddhartha alias Haini Bagde.

Yashoda and Sidhdhartha used to organise betting at their house while the three came to place bets.

The police have registered a case under Gambling Act and have started further investigation. During the further investigation the details of the couple would be searched which could help in revealing the betting rackets.

Meanwhile, Hanumanganj police have nabbed two miscreants and recovered valuables worth Rs 1.5 lakh from their possession on Friday.

The nabbed  persons were identified as Niyamat Khan (26) and Mukesh Mehra (20). Acting on a tip off, Mukesh Mehra was nabbed and recovered one motorbike and one scooter worth Rs 1.5 lakh from his possession.

The other accused nabbed was identified as Niyamat Khan was nabbed and recovered Rs 900 from his possession he was involved in stealing goods worth Rs  9000 from a paan shop on June 23, 2017.

The accused told the police that he had spent the money on food. He used to stay at platform number 1 and 6 of Bhopal railway station.
