Police foil robbery bid, four arrested near Bhanpur bridge

Chhola Mandir police have foiled a robbery plan and nabbed four robbers from Maholi trisection late in the night on Wednesday. The accused had robbed a man of Rs 29,000 cash on October 3 near Bhanpur bridge.

The police acted swiftly after receiving information of miscreants planning robbery and nabbed four miscreants while one managed to escape at around 10.30 pm on Wednesday.

CSP Nishatpura Lokesh Sinha said that the nabbed accused were identified as Shadad, Mohammad Saif, Sajid alias Chawanni and Mumtaz while one of the accused managed to escape and was later identified as Sarfaraz. All the accused are habitual criminals and have been booked for several crimes. Sarfaraz has been booked for 9 different crimes, Saif has been booked for one crime, Sajid was booked for robbery and Shadab has been booked for three crimes.

Police have recovered a country made pistol, two cartridges, two sharp edged weapon, a torch, chilli powder and Rs 28000 cash from the accused, he added.

The police have registered a case under section 399 and 402 of the IPC and have started further investigation.

Accused persons have been booked for robbery and theft.It is to be noted that the  two victims were targeted at Bhanpur Bridge on October 3 and September 27 last month. In both the cases, accused used the same trick to trap the victim. The accused would stop the victim and hitting another vehicle injuring the rider and when the victim would offer money for the compensation they would escape with the wallet carrying cash. This is  not the first time that this kind of incident has been reported from this area.
