Youth held for attempt to rape student

Baleswar: The Khantapara police on Tuesday arrested a 25-year-old youth on the charge of attempting to rape a Class-IX student of village Kasabajaypur. The accused identified as Dipu Chaudhary had committed the offence in an inebriated state when the girl was going to her private tuition in the evening. The mother of the victim lodged an FIR. The accused ws forwarded to court.

Kidnapped B’swar girl rescued from Bhubaneswar

Baleswar:A minor girl, who had allegedly been kidnapped from the Paschimbad area of Jaleswar, was rescued by Child Line members from the Bhubaneswar railway station on Monday. One Biswajit Giri had allegdlly kidnapped the victim

Lovebirds rescued in Baleswar

Baleswar: The Nilgiri police, after rescuing two lovebirds handed them over to the Baleswar Industrial police on Tuesday. The couple had fled from their houses, following which a kidnapping compliant had been lodged by the parents of the girl.

Elephant calf rescued in Dhenkanal 

Dhenkanal: An elephant calf accidentally tumbled into an abandoned well in the Mahulpunji forest in Dhenkanal district on Monday night. Locals spotted the baby jumbo on Tuesday morning and tried to rescue it but in vain. Forest officials being informed reached the spot and started rescue operation. The calf was eventually rescued from the well after a four-hour-long operation.

NTPC and TTPS bag CSR Award

Talcher: The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and the Talcher Thermal Power Station (TTPS) have been awarded with Kalinga CSR Award-2017 for excellence in CSR performances and sustainable development.
