Missing para jumper’s body found

Search teams of NDRF, Odraf and personnel from Odisha fire department in a joint operation on Sunday retrieved the body of a trainee paratrooper Tashi Dawa (39), who was believed to be undergoing training at the Aviation Research Centre at Charbatia air base of Research and Analytical Wing (RAW) here under the Choudwar police station. Police sources said Dawa, a native of Mysore, had gone missing on Saturday during para-jump (PJ) training after he jumped from a helicopter near Mangarajpur training base. His body was located from the Haripur water reservoir, 25 km from Mangarajpur on Sunday evening. Sources said the deceased paratrooper’s body was taken to the ARC campus and it will be sent for postmortem on Monday.

“The search teams first located his parachute and helmet from near the water reservoir on Sunday afternoon and after an intense search in the reservoir, his body was located and fished out from the reservoir,” police sources said, adding that an unnatural death (UD) case in this regard has been registered in the police station after a written complaint was received from the ARC authorities.
