PETA drive for compassion for animals

| | BHUBANESWAR | in Bhubaneswar

Members of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and the Animal Welfare Trust Ekamra on Tuesday distributed red roses to couples and other passersby on road here a day before the Valentine's Day on Wednesday to encourage everyone to show compassion for animals by switching to healthy and humane vegan eating.

With a theme “Have a Heart: Go Vegan", a valentine angel dressed with red gowns and angel wings wanted to give a message that everyone should love animals and stop killing them.

PETA Campaigns assistant Ayushi Sharma said the Valentine’s Day on February 14 is a perfect time to show love for all living beings by choosing vegan meals. This would not only save lives of countless animals but would also do one’s health and the environment a favour, she added.

She also said the motive of holding this programme was that people should ‘Go Vegan’ this Valentine’s Day and show compassion to animals.
