‘Tech dev helps country shine in international arena’

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar celebrated its 10th foundation day at its Argul campus here on Monday.

Inaugurating the programme, chief guest Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi briefed about the development of technology in all fields helping the country shine in the international arena.

Padhi lauded the spirit of the IIT Bhubaneswar in utilising state-of-the-art technology to bring disruptive technologies to address societal problems. He also emphasised on use of data for next generation economy and encouraged students to start indigenous technology driven companies.

Society for Policy Studies director C Uday Bhaskar, IIT BBS Director Prof R V Raja Kumar and Organising Committee Chairman Prof VR Pedireddi also attended as guests. Uday Bhaskar emphasised on the responsibility of every citizen of the country to contribute to national security. He spoke about role that a nation’s security forces have to play to ensure the well being of the populace of the country, by giving various historical examples. The guests also felicitated faculty, staff members and students of the institute for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields.

An open day programme including a science and technology exhibition was also held on the occasion in which school students from Class-VIII to XII and junior engineering students from across the city and the State participated.

A Kathak dance by Sushmita Banerjee of SPIC MACAY and other cultural performances were performed.
