In support of their various demands the Asha facilitators and Asha workers staged a protest march to State secretariat on Monday. These workers owing affiliation to the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) assembled at the protest site near parade ground and engaged in vehement slogan shouting against the government. The workers then headed towards the state secretariat but their March was halted by police personnel. The agitated Asha workers squatted in the spot and started a dharna. Addressing the workers, the state coordinator Renu Negi said that the state Chief Minister had declared an amount of ` 33 Crore for the Asha workers and announced a sum of ` 5000 per year and `2000 per month as encouragement to Ashas but nothing has been done till now. She said that the minimum allowance of the Asha health workers should be increased to `15000 per month.
