Cleanliness drive across Nainital dist from Sept 26

The Nainital district administration is all set to launch a cleanliness drive under the ‘Clean India Campaign’ across the district from September 26, stressing the need to equip every household with basic services like toilets.

Emphasising on the need to maintain cleanliness in the society, the district administration, Nainital, has asked the officials concerned to take necessary steps before the cleanliness drive commences. The cleanliness campaign will continue till October 2.

The district administration has asked the Block Development Officers (BDOs) to identify all such houses in the villages of their respective areas which are still devoid of the basic services like toilets before going for the cleanliness drive.

Similarly, the Executive Officers (EOs) are supposed to  identify all such houses under every panchayat, municipal council and municipal corporation which are still doing without  the basic services like toilets before commencement of the cleanliness drive, added the district administration, Nainital. Under the campaign, it must be ensured that every household in all the villages and the cities across the district are fitted with basic services like toilets.

As the cleanliness campaign is a programme going on nationally  all the officials concerned are supposed to take it seriously, maintained the Nainital district administration. Apart from providing every household with a toilet, to maintain cleanliness and to ensure proper disposal of civic wastes in every part of the villages and cities is vital, the district officials averred.

Apart from officials concerned of the district administration, local public representatives and school children will also be involved in the cleanliness drive. To create awareness among the people about the necessity of maintaining cleanliness, the role of the school children is important. So the school children will also carry out rallies to spread awareness about importance of maintaining cleanliness in the society.

Besides, panting and quiz  competitions and other cleanliness related programmes will also be hosted for the school children during the cleanliness campaign, further said the Nainital district administration, adding that all the officials concerned should carry out this cleanliness campaign with a coordinated approach.
