Strike by lab techs affects health services

The strike of lab technicians affected the health services in the State on Monday. Under call given by the association of lab technicians about 200 technicians working in all Government hospitals of State went on a day’s leave. The strike affected functioning of laboratories and patients faced problems due to their strike.

The President of the association Rakesh Rawat said that the issue of cadre restructuring of technicians is pending from a long time.

He said that the Lab technicians are retiring on same post on which they are appointed. Rawat said that the technicians should be given laundry allowance and permission of the technicians should be made compulsory for purchase of chemical. He added that on the assurance of the Director General (DG) health the agitation of the association was suspended on October 3, last year but no action has taken place.

The association has decided to call a meeting of its executive on April 20 to decide on future course of action on the agitation.
