NTPC Uchahar unit witnessed another minor incident

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Uchahar Unit, which witnessed a major tragedy on October 31 last when 45 people were killed in the boiler blast, witnessed another minor incident, when a labourer fell from a tower on Wednesday. The labourer identified as Ram Singh was rushed to the Trauma centre in Lucknow in critical condition. NTPC, Additional General Manager, C Kumar, said here on Thursday  that the accident occurred at the sixth unit of the Uchahar, which was closed after the October 31 blast. The officer said that the labourer fell from a height of 20 feet during cleaning drive and was admitted to the hospital in Lucknow. In the October 31incident, 45 people including four senior engineers of the NTPC were killed and over 70 others were injured. Meanwhile, a team of the National Human Rights Commission(NHRC) is visiting the NTPC Uchahar unit during the past two days and were inquiring with the labourers about the working condition and other facilities.
