BSP’s Lime Kiln No 1 of Modex Unit inaugurated

Lime Kiln No 1 of Bhilai Steel Plant’s Modex Unit - Refractory Materials Plant 3 was inaugurated by M Ravi, CEO, Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) on Tuesday.

The facility was inaugurated in presence of Executive Director  (Projects) A K Mathur, Executive Director (Works) PK Dash, General Managers and Senior officers of Projects Department and Plant, a BSP press release informed on Wednesday.

Refractory Materials Plant 3 has five kilns including 4 kilns for production of lime and one kiln for production of dolomite – each of 450 tonnes/day capacity. The Lime Kiln 1 which was inaugurated would supply lime to the Plant’s Steel Melting Shop 2 and 3 and Sinter Plant 3.

A fully automated plant with computerised operations, the technology and equipment has been supplied by M/s MEARZ, Germany. The Project has been executed by M/s Shapoorji Pallonji Construction Limited under the supervision of Projects Department.

The new plant is equipped with dedusting system, gas cleaning plant and dust suction facilities, making it an environment friendly unit. The kilns are gas fired as against the conventional oil-fired system, making it energy efficient as well.
